In memory of Giovanni Battista Varnier, through a reading of his latter works - Giovanni Battista Varnier (Genoa, 22nd August 1948 – 6th June 2022) was a prominent scholar of history of Church-State relations, law and religion and canon law in the Universities of Genoa, Urbino and once again Genoa, wherein in his latter years he was given the title of Emeritus Professor. The essay provides an overview of the several works he published between 2019 and 2022, in which many of his life-long lines of research came to a conclusion.
