Phraseologie – sprachliche Kreativität – Übersetzung. Ansätze und Perspektiven

The aim of this special issue is to bring together theoretical perspectives with empirically based
approaches and analyses on phraseology, linguistic creativity and translation. It is here assumed
that creativity is an integral part of language use – in text and translation. The authors take up
basic concepts in the field and trace them through selected examples from novels of contemporary literature, advertising texts, legal texts, political speeches, popularising texts and their Italian
translations; moving from their observations, new terminological considerations are also presented. The term ‘phraseological’ is deliberately interpreted in a broad way and the usual criteria
for defining phrasemes are seen as gradable variables. A broad interpretation is given to the term
‘idiomatic’ as well, as it is also applied to one-word lexemes, figurative usages of language,
allusions, pragmatic connotations, reinterpretations etc.
