Le nuove minoranze linguistiche: scenari attuali e prospettive future a vent'anni dalla legge 482 del 1999, tra necessità di innovazione e diritto all'integrazione

During the last fifty years, conspicuous migration flows to Italy have generated a parallel increase in the number of linguistic and cultural identities present in the society. Due to the progressive stabilization of the migration and the enhanced centrality of plurality in the contemporary globalized world, new accounts of the phenomenon are necessary. This work aims at showing the best treatment in favor of the new plurilingualism originated by immigration that can guarantee a successful integration and preserve the original features of immigrants and people with migration background. In the light of recent social and demographic development of the migration situation, this paper analyzes the current treatment given to new minority languages in Italy, in order to evaluate the innovations required in the field of language policies regarding minority languages. The work suggests new protection models for the immigrants’ languages of origin based on their specific language instances.
