Introduzione. Italia e Stati Uniti: prospettive storiografiche

This introduction offers a critical overview of the main developments in Italian American Studies over the last two decades, identifying three major trends: the integration of U.S. history into global and transnational perspectives; the renewal of scholarship on Italian migration to the United States; and the growing dialogue between political, international, cultural, social, and gender history. Against this historiographical background, the essay situates the contributions collected in this special issue within the broader renewal of studies on Italian-American relations, highlighting their focus on the interaction between international dynamics and domestic politics as well as their interdisciplinary approach. The introduction argues that these essays contribute to the ongoing revitalization of Italian American Studies by promoting new methodological perspectives and innovative interpretations of key developments in twentieth-century political and cultural history.
