Students acquire fundamental knowledge related to the transportation and tourism sectors, as well as an understanding of the underlying economic mechanisms. Transportation and tourism industries are analyzed from microeconomic and regulatory perspectives, including demand theory, the theory of the firm, markets, and externalities. For the transportation portion of the course, the reference sector is air transport, which plays a significant role in our territory. There is a special focus on airlines, as well as nods to the sectors of airports, air navigation services, and aircraft manufacturers. Students develop independent evaluative skills and learn to apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems in the transportation and tourism industries.
If conditions permit, a visit to an industry operator may be arranged to enable students to observe the application of their knowledge in real-life contexts and to develop the ability to apply it.
Teaching will take the form of lectures with opportunities for discussion and dialogue with students. It is possible that a visit to an operator in the sectors under study may be organised as part of the course, should the opportunity arise and depending on the situation at the time.
