Course Objectives

The course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the main approaches to geographical research, particularly geo-historical, on the environment, also with an applied perspective for the protection and enhancement of tourism and cultural heritage. The teaching will take place through lectures, with particular attention to discussion and direct dialogue with students, who will be able to propose areas for further exploration or debate during the lessons. The lectures will be supported by multimedia materials and complemented by guided tours.

Assessment Methods

The final exam will be held orally, and the evaluation will be expressed on a 30-point scale. The examination will consist of several questions covering the entire syllabus in order to assess the students' acquisition of the knowledge taught throughout the course.

Contents

The course illustrates, from a geographical perspective, the relationship between humans and the environment, both in the past and in the present, with particular attention to the responses of natural systems to anthropogenic processes. Current policies and best practices necessary for mitigating and overcoming the main environmental issues (such as biodiversity loss, climate change, land consumption, deforestation, etc.) will also be examined. Additionally, simple environmental analyses will be conducted related to the territorial contexts of the students
