Overview

Date/time interval

Primo Semestre (15/09/2025 - 20/12/2025)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the student knows the results of classical mechanics and the basic notions of analytical mechanics. He is able to use this knowledge to study motion and equilibrium for systems of rigid bodies.

Course Prerequisites

Course in "Mathematical Analysis I", course in "Geometry and Linear Algebra", course in "General Physics I".

Teaching Methods

The teaching is composed by lectures (32 hours), exercises (20 hours), and tutoring (12 hours). In all three activities the student is encouraged to participate with suggestions and proposals. If remote or blended teaching is necessary, some changes will be introduced, also for the exams.

Assessment Methods

The exam is made of two tests. The first one is a written test in which the solution of two exercices is required. The second test is a theoretical exam (written or oral) which, starting from a discussion on the first test, can concern the whole course program. To be admitted to the second test it is necessary to obtain at least 18/30 in the first test, whose results are published on the course web page. The date of the second test is communicated during the first test or on the course web page. It takes place approximately 7-14 days after the first one, and it is passed with a mark greater or equal to 18/30; the final mark is the average between the marks of the two tests.
