The course aims to introduce students to the fundamental issues of geography and its main fields of application, also in order to foster a sensitivity suited to the new scenarios of belonging.

The teaching will take place through lectures, with particular attention to discussion and direct dialogue with students, who will be able to propose areas for further exploration or debate during the lessons. The lectures will be supported by multimedia materials and complemented by guided tours.
The final exam will be held orally, and the evaluation will be expressed on a 30-point scale. The exam will consist of several questions covering the entire syllabus to assess the students' acquisition of the knowledge imparted throughout the course.
The course will introduce the concepts of place, environment, territory, region, and landscape, with attention to different scales, from the local to the global. It will then consider the constitutive and evolutionary processes of the Italian reality, with particular focus on Lombardy.
