Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to approach the main issues of medieval history and start individual paths on the single matters of that period. In this way, students will be able to analyze medieval records and literary texts critically. Students will also be able to frame events in space and time.

Teaching Methods

The course is organized through lectures, although developed through discussions and dialogues, in order to increase the active participation of students.

Assessment Methods

The end of course exam will be based on oral questions. The evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths. Particularly, during the examination questions will verify the complete knowledge of the syllabus. Students will be able to understand the main topics of medieval history and frame chronologically and analyze medieval records critically.


Contents

The course is aimed to provide a picture of the main problem areas of medieval history, from the fall of The Roman Empire to The Year 1492. The most relevant institutional, social and economic dynamics of the Middle Ages will be taken into consideration.
