Student knowledge:
At the end of the module, the student will know the fundamental concepts and principles of Information Technologies in terms of computation, encoding, algorithms and programs; the technological tools that are used in Information Technologies, i.e. computers and all the components that accompany them to create interfaces with users, with the external environment, and with other computers.
Student skills:
At the end of the module, the student will be able to understand the operating principles and foundations of the technologies that support an IT system, and will be able to conceive and propose IT-based solutions to problems of various kinds.

Classroom lectures: 36 hours.
Written test comprised of two parts.
Part A: multiple choice questionnaire with 20 questions (1 point per correct answer, max 20 points).
Part B: 2 open questions (6 points per correct answer, max 12 points).
To pass the test the student must obtain at least 13 points in part A and 5 points in part B.
Honours given to total scores greater than 30.
Fundamental theoretical concepts in Computer Science: algorithm, program, process, semantics, syntax.
Computer architecture overview.
Fundamentals on telecommunication networks and the Internet.
Web, Web 2.0, Semantic Web.
General concepts on databases and data elaboration.
Digital culture.
