Course Objectives

The course provides knowledge about cognitive and clinical-behavioural deficits consequent to brain damage and the main basis of psychopharmacology. The main aims are to study: 1) the deficit of neuropsychological functions in patients affected by lesions or dysfunctions of the central nervous system; 2) neurobiological principles of the most frequent clinical neurological and psychiatric disorders; 3) the interactions between clinical neuroscience and clinical health psychology.

Course Prerequisites

Students should have knowledge of neuroanatomy and neurobiology that can be acquired through the course of Bases of Psychobiology and Cognitive Neurosciences.

Teaching Methods

Teaching will be conducted through lectures with the help of video / web resources. Non-attending students must adhere to published online program.

Assessment Methods

The exam consists of the evaluation of acquired knowledge by means of a written exam with 3 open-ended questions.

The functioning of the nervous system and the endocrine system; psychopharmacology bases; research methods in clinical behavioral neuroscience; sleep and biological rhythms; nutritional behavior and eating disorders; psycho-somatic effects of stress; neurological disorders; neurodegenerative disorders; Covid and long-covid; schizophrenia and affective disorders; anxiety disorders; substance abuse.
