Course Objectives

The course aims to introduce the student to the understanding of the fundamentals of micro andmacroeconomic theory. From a microeconomic point of view, the objectives are articulated in providing tools: 1) to interpret the behavior and choices of individuals in the markets, specifying the role of agent-type" consumers" on the demand side, and "companies" on the supply side ; 2) to distinguish the characteristics of the main forms of market so as to appropriately connote the concept of "competition"; 3) understand the spaces of the malfunction of the market mechanisms (in the joints that see the emergence of the "gray zone"of the externalities, but can give rise to profiles of violation of the rules). From a macroeconomic point of view, the objectives are meant to provide a basic knowledge framework addressed to clarify the role of: 4) the main macroeconomic aggregates: income, employment, interest rates, general price level, exchange rate;5) money and finance in macroeconomic dynamics; 6) the international dimension in economic dynamics; 7) of State action in the various aspects of economic policy conduct.
