Introduction to the study of Italian literature, based on the analysis of the literary texts and on historical background. The student will be able to know authors and works of the Italian Literature and will be able to recognise different styles of writing.
A basic knowledge of history of Italian literature is required. A basic interpretation of literary texts is also required.
Lectures. Workshop with well-known scholars. Basic workshop.
Test on general topics (Vecce's book); oral exam on lectures.
The exam measures students' knowledge and comprehension of course and books contents.
1) Through the eyes of the honest brigade: reading of Giovanni Boccaccio's "Decameron".
The course reads Boccaccio's complex book taking into account the perspective adopted individually by the four girls and three boys, with a view to a transversal reading of the "Decaméron".
2) Through the Poet’s Eyes: A Journey through Petrarch’s Canzoniere
Reading and commentary on selected texts, in search of reflections on the act of writing.
The program is valid for attending students and for non attenting students.
