Overview

Date/time interval

Primo Semestre (15/09/2025 - 20/12/2025)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to introduce the technologies used in the field of regenerative medicine. The course aims to address the training aspects related to the clinical application of these technologies. Furthermore, the course focuses on the fundamental aspects of modeling the cellular microenvironment and on the design of advanced systems for the development of bioartificial organs.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of biochemistry, cell biology, mechanics, biomaterials is required.

Teaching Methods

Didactic activity will will be articulated in lectures, practical lectures and a few hours of laboratory.

Experts in the Tissue Engineering field will be involved in carrying out educational seminars (1-2 seminars during the semester).

Assessment Methods

The assessment will take place through a written test consisting of questions (open and multiple choice) and exercises.

During the semester, students (divided into groups of 2/3 people) will have to carry out a small research project with a final presentation to the class. This project will be evaluated with a maximum score of 5 points which will be added to the evaluation of the written test.

There are no mid-semester tests.

Contents

The course program include the following topics:

  • Introduction to regenerative medicine
  • Regenerative therapy components: cells, biomaterials and signals
  • Characterization of engineered tissues
  • Hydrogel fabrication for tissue engineering
  • 3D-Printing and biofabrication
  • Electrospinning
