Syllabus

Course Objectives

The Course aims to guide the student towards the knowledge of theoretical and didactic models for the design, management and conduct of functional training programs applied to fitness and sports performance.

At the end of the study path the student:

- knows the theoretical and methodological principles of functional fitness;

- knows how to manage activities for a group of students knowing how to illustrate and demonstrate the fundamental functional exercises making the necessary corrections in relation to individual needs.

- knows how to manage activities for athletes, in groups or individually, knowing how to illustrate and demonstrate the fundamental functional exercises making the necessary variations in relation to the sport practiced and individual needs;

- knows how to create and manage an individualized and group training plan;

- use appropriate technical terminology;

- uses and consciously orients himself in the scientific texts of national and international literature presented during the course.


Course Prerequisites

Notes on physiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics and biochemistry



Teaching Methods

The educational path includes practical-laboratory activities. Active and constant participation will be required, with a mandatory 70% attendance as required by the teaching regulations. Ample space will be given to collaborative teaching methodologies, such as group work, peer tutoring and debriefing sessions, in order to stimulate constructive feedback among peers.



Assessment Methods

The verification of the educational objectives will take place in oral mode. The exam will focus on general and specific arguments with respect to the lesson program where clarity of exposition will be appreciated, as well as the ability to express oneself using correct specific technical language.

During the course, students will have the opportunity to carry out activities (group work and presentations). These tests will contribute to the final evaluation. The specific methods of these activities will be communicated at the beginning of the course.

The final evaluation will be given by the arithmetic mean of Module 1 and Module 2.

- The importance of anatomy and biomechanics in exercise selection and execution

- Critical evaluation of common gym practices and equipment

For working students or those with other specific needs, it is advisable to contact the teacher. For ERASMUS students, it is possible to agree on the exam program with the teacher. All the teaching material presented during the lessons is made available on the Moodle platform.
