abstract:
What do we mean when we use the term 'space public'?
The recurrent term in the disciplines involved in the city and territory that if they serve to indicate one of the main themes of urban policies?
It is a word that bind to the common concepts or that evokes in each one of us different meanings, variables and subjective?
What relationship is there between the word 'space public' in the language of an urbanist, an anthropologist, a lawyer or a street artist? A homeless, an EU citizen, a housewife, a student commuter, of an elderly person, a young person or a child?
Where it starts and where it ends the 'space public'? That shape has the border that separates it from the 'space private'?
And again: who it belongs to the 'space public'? Is all, nobody, someone?
Is whoever crosses, who resides, who uses it,
who remember him?
It is an issue of membership material and legal, or role, allocation?
It is a place of the freedom of the individual or shared rules?
We can do what we want or just what we can?
Who cares for it? All, nobody, someone? What are the most appropriate tools to decide on the form, the ways and the uses of the 'space public'?
You can and in that way to build the 'space public' following participatory processes and open to the real contribution and non-formal bureaucratic and citizens? Shopping centers which accept the crowd of consumers we can consider 'space public'?
