Children's Play. Multifaceted aspects

Edited Book
Publication Date:
2018
Short description:
(2018). Children's Play. Multifaceted aspects [edited book - curatela]. Retrieved from http://hdl.handle.net/10446/151933
abstract:
It seems that play has never been as easy as today, even for children, at least in the so-called "advanced societies". Places to play multiply and become more and more fantastic; the market of toys and play market (where video games are the dominant part), has been increasing in recent years but remains stable even in times of crisis. But what is today the role iecognized to play in child development? Is there new scientific evidence for its importance? What are the opportunities and play proposals for children with disabilities? Is there a recognizable qualitative difference between play in nature and play closed in the digital environments? What are the consequences of the impoverishment of relationships due to the decrease in social play opportunities? Should we learn again how to teach play to children? The volume gathers scholars from different disciplines and nationalities to discuss the numerous possible facets of child play, trying to identify the main trends, to pick up innovation lines, to confirm its foundational aspects.
