L’Europa e l’educazione nel tempo della complessità

From the very beginning, from the classical paideia, the question of education is the basis of the definition of Europe. We reflect here on the educational project ofEuropean modernity, marked by the development of nation-states. The nation-states have played not only a political role, but also an educational function in the construction of citizenship, as response to the constitutive tension of Europe: the tension between unity and multiplicity, between identity and diversity.Today, in the time of complexity, this educational function is challenged by the crisis and transformation of citizenship, caused by the globalization process. Educating to citizenship today means for Europe educating to complexity.
