The essay analyses the activities, provenances and careers of the piedmontese notaries who worked for the Savoy-Achaea dynasty in the 14th century. The analysis focuses on the cases of some families who had a professional continuity as princely notaries over several generations. The success of these families depended not only on the mastery of documentary and accounting techniques, but also on the activation of economic relationships with the central authority.
