The chapter reflects upon the metaphors provided by some forms of popular and grassroots performance/dance such as Brazilian capoeira, in their clash - or encounter - with forms of fight/contact sports such as boxe; it traces their common origins to slavery and outlines their contemporary outputs in the common imagery, as shown here by a Brazilian child's drawing.
