Ridare senso allo spazio per riabitare un borgo alpino: le politiche territoriali dinanzi a Polaggia

From the concept of porous city the chapter hinges upon the hamlet of Polaggia, the main local district village of Berbenno in Valtellina, the Alpine town. The topics under scrutiny are: i. redefining liveability of urban space; ii. restoring economic activities, which may prove to be sustainable in the future; iii. valorising the architectural heritage; iv. a balanced integration of the hamlet with new settlements have become, on the one hand, part of the municipality, and on the other the surrounding locations defining the landscape capital. The planning perspective suggested, following the analysis, can be summarised as a system of safe trails, valorising a new space perception so that it may produce varied views, which would then foster continuity with regard to the architectural history of Polaggia. Nevertheless, it is indeed about the opportunities within the current institutional context to find all the necessary resources that will pave the way for a middle-to-long run socio-economic strategy capable of satisfying all the needs arisen during this field research.
