L'eco dell'anima che scompare. Coscienza e identità nella narrativa anglo-americana contemporanea

Chapter
Publication Date:
2005
abstract:
The essay discusses the relevance of the "Mind-Brain" philosophical debate in English and US novels published after 1990. Works by authors like Richard Powers, Jonathan Franzen, Jeffrey Eugenides, Ian McEwan and David Lodge are analyzed in the light of their common concern with the cultural consequences of the cerebral vision of identity developed in cognitive science and embraced and divulged by authoritative scientists and intellectuals.
