Introduction: reinventing space

This is an introductory charter, dealing with the main topic of the whole book: spatial differences in the world economy in this phase of globalization. The chapter is divided into two main parts. The first part is the theoretical introduction to the whole book. It deals with the questionable phenomenon of globalisation, by analysing the different and controversial literature about this hot topic, and the concept of space in the global economy, by criticising the theory of ‘the spaceless economy’. The second part of the chapter outlines the book, by introducing each single chapter and their main points.
