This volume of the Transactions of Wessex Institute contains the papers presented
at the 3rd International Conference on Waste Management and the Environment. The conference offered the opportunity for professionals involved in the waste management sector, industrial sector, governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as other interested parties to be involved in discussions on key issues and challenges in waste management and to exchange experiences and views on the current technologies and strategies applied in different parts of the world. Waste management is one of the key issues of modern society and requires constant advancement in the adopted practices and technologies in order to keep up with the new industrial technologies and commodities introduced to the market every year, which can have varying impacts on the environment. Sustainable strategies in waste management are focused on reducing the amount of generated waste and recycling of the waste, the creation of which cannot be avoided with current technologies.
