abstract:
The concept of social responsibility is widely used in economics and philosophy, but has received little attention as an object of study of sociology in itself. The work attempts to define this concept in its sociological meaning, developing the idea that there is a distinction between the “socially” and “individually” responsible action. In particular, the author dwells on the meaning of socially responsible action as social relationship. Then briefly she explores the thought of some sociologists and philosophers. Finally, she analyzes the link between responsibility and the topic of risk and social generativity. The aim is to present some basic elements for a sociology of responsibility.
