The book questions the constitutional and political significance of the septennial mandate. To this end it analyzes the most important cases in which it was experienced in the western world, always as a result of the search of stability and/or balance of government, in a conservative direction that was variously declined, despite international connections and circulation of models, as the case studies included in the book show.
