Palandri questions the status of literary characters and our condition as spectators-readers of the lives of others; crosses the metamorphosis of the narrative instance in modernism, leading us among the great classics of the twentieth century, always holding hands, showing us how the great questions that cross contemporary culture and history do not differ from the questions that everyone asks themselves in the most ordinary circumstances; takes us to the heart of the formal choices of the great storytellers (Italo Svevo, Marcel Proust, Virgina Woolf, James Joyce, Franz Kafka), presenting them not as technical devices, but as attempts to offer a representation as close as possible to a common feeling that writers they take care of translating for us.
