La diligenza dello sguardo. Ernst Kitzinger attraverso il Corpus dei mosaici del periodo normanno in Sicilia

This essay clarifies the genesis and retraces the multi-year creation of the great "Corpus of mosaics of the Norman period in Sicily", and illustrates some implications, on an artistic, cultural and human level, of the collaboration between Kitzinger and Maraini, both at the beginning at the time. Particular attention is dedicated to the Italian and American institutional network that made the great publishing enterprise possible and to the prodigious scientific and editorial control over its materials exercised by the great art historian.
