Short description:

abstract:
The stepped care model, an evidence-based approach, provides a structured method for delivering psychological interventions by incrementally increasing treatment intensity based on patient needs. This strategy allows for the efficient use of resources and ensures patients receive appropriate care. The chapter outlines how this model can be applied within a psychotherapeutic context, detailing specific interventions at each step from initial assessments and brief therapies to intensive treatments for complex cases. Emphasising the integration of various therapeutic techniques, the chapter highlights how the stepped care model enhances therapeutic outcomes, improves patient engagement, and optimises the therapeutic alliance.
