The essay analyzes two recent works by Jeanette Winterson, "Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal" (2011) and "The Daylight Gate" (2012) arguing that they represent a return to the themes (and the formal devices) of Winterson's first book: "Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit" (1985)
