La «Vita» anonima della Nazionale: continuità e innovazione nell’elaborazione della memoria agiografica.

The contribution is divided into two parts. The first, by Francesco Lo Monaco, focuses on the only manuscript that transmits the anonymous Vita of Giovanni Gualberto – an hagiographic legendary of Tuscan origin, which also includes some Vallombrosan normative text –, on the relationship between this Vita and the earlier Vita of the saint, written by Andrea di Strumi, to which the author likely refers, and on the literary qualities of the text. The second part, by Antonella Degl’Innocenti, offers a summary of the content and an analysis of the hagiographic features of this Vita, which displays highly original traits, likely influenced by the author’s personal relationship with the saint and by the history of the monastery of Settimo, where he is believed to have been a monk.
