abstract:
The knowledge of travelers’ movements in a given geographical area is very important in order to plan local socio-economic development. This chapter presents an innovative method aiming at collecting data for studying travelers’ movements, based on a mobile social computing approach. Indeed, we use geo-located messages on the social media Twitter in order to follow travelers from the European airports located in the cluster cities of the research program Centrality of Territories, to the airport of Bergamo and its surrounding area. This method will allow to see all the paths and to get precise information on travelers’ mobility.
