Le parole del delirio. Immagini in migrazione, riflessioni sui frantumi (Words in the delirium. Images in migration, reflections on shards) is a book that seeks to reflect on some of events of the last two years and on the shattering of reality. Trying to bring into being a writing that emulates montage, the book concentrates in the first instance on one of the wildest features of our contemporary scene: men, woman and children who are allowed to enter Europe only by way of being snagged on the barbed wire at its border or as “castaways” in the Mediterranean. We then run through the political choices with which the European Union supposes that it can govern an ever-enlarged sector of the world’s population, which has been transformed by those very choices into mere bodies, whether surviving, dead or “lost”. This is a politics of delirium all of whose effects can be seen in the images that have reproduced them.
