Curriculum Vitae
Originally from Agrigento, Ivan Libero Nocera is Associate Professor of Private Law in the Department of Law at the University of Bergamo, where he teaches Advanced Private Law, Principles of Law, and Ethics and Law. He is also a practising lawyer at Weigmann Studio Legale, Turin–Milan.
He was unanimously awarded the Italian National Scientific Qualification for Full Professorship in Private Law.
He was an ordinary student and postgraduate fellow at the Scuola Sant’Anna in Pisa, where he obtained his PhD with honours, following a degree in Law, also with honours, from the University of Pisa.
He has been a visiting researcher at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, the University of Cambridge, the Universidad de Oviedo, and the University of Groningen.
He has held research and teaching positions at the Universities of Brescia, Valle d’Aosta, and Palermo, where he taught Civil Law, Privacy Protection and Digital Data Processing, Communication Law and Business Law and Third Sector Entities.
On several occasions, he has served as a speaker and expert trainer in training courses organised by the Italian School for the Judiciary. He has also taught in postgraduate master’s programmes, advanced training courses, and professional development programmes at various universities.
He has delivered lectures and seminars at numerous South American universities, including the Universidad Externado de Colombia, the PUCP and the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima.
He is the author of three monographs — Per una rimeditazione quantitativa della legittima. Solidarietà endofamiliare e autonomia nel passaggio generazionale, 2024; La tutela dei creditori del legittimario, 2020; and Analisi civilistica degli accordi di ristrutturazione dei debiti, 2017 — and of more than one hundred scholarly publications, chiefly in the fields of contract law, succession law, and business crisis law.
He regularly participates as a speaker at national and international conferences.
