PALEARI Francesca Giorgia

Francesca Giorgia Paleari is Associate Professor of Social Psychology at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Bergamo, where she teaches social psychology and psychology of groups and interpersonal relationships.
She earned her degree in Philosophy at the Catholic University of Milan, where she also completed her Ph.D. in Social and Developmental Psychology, defending a thesis on marital forgiveness awarded by the AIP. Until 2005, she conducted research and teaching activities at the Catholic University of Milan; from 2005 to 2013 at the University of Bergamo as a researcher in General Psychology, and from 2013 to 2015 as a researcher in Social Psychology. In 2017, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of full professor in the competition sector of Social, Work, and Organizational Psychology.
Since 2005, she has been teaching at the Ph.D. Psychology School at the Catholic University of Milan. From 2010 to 2017, she was a member of the Teaching Board of the Ph.D. in Psychology/ Person Formation and Labor Market at the University of Bergamo.
Since 2023, she has been PI of the international project "Development and validation of a self-report measure of divine forgiveness across monotheistic religions," funded by the John Templeton Foundation. In 2009, she was fund by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (Projects of Relevant National Interest call) for the project "Forgiveness and reconciliation at the interpersonal and social level. The case of terrorism in Italy" (PI: Prof. C. Regalia).
Her research interests primarily focus on couple and family relationships, with particular attention to forgiveness processes (pf others and self), coping, and resilience in challenging situations. She also deals with group processes (intergroup forgiveness, prejudices), research methodology, and validation of assessment tools for family or group processes, some of which are widely used internationally. She is the author or co-author of several scientific publications on these topics.
