Federica Restelli is tenure-track researcher (RTT) at the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences of the University of Bergamo. Starting from the a.y. 2026–2027, she is in charge of the courses “Impianti chimici e trattamento delle acque” (6 CFU), offered within the Master of Science in "Ingegneria delle Tecnologie per la Sostenibilità Energetica e Ambientale", and "Processi e tecnologie chimiche per l'energia e l'ambiente" (9 CFU), offered within the Bachelor of Science in "Ingegneria delle Tecnologie per la Sostenibilità Energetica e Ambientale" at the University of Bergamo. Her research activities focus on the design and development of new sustainable processes, including the thermodynamic and kinetic modeling of systems and the use of commercial process simulation packages such as Aspen Plus®, Aspen HYSYS®, and BRE Promax®. Research applications include the synthesis of green ammonia and green methanol; the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF); the transport and storage of hydrogen using carriers (liquefied hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers – LOHCs); and CO2 capture through chemical and physical absorption and cryogenic distillation. She is the first author/co-author of more than 15 scientific papers published in international journals and of a monograph. In 2025, she received the “H2Excellence Best Thesis Award 2025”, awarded by H2Excellence and H2IT – The Italian Hydrogen Association for the best PhD thesis in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen-based technologies. She regularly participates in international conferences on process design and modeling. She also serves as a peer reviewer for international scientific journals (International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, Applied Energy, …).
