Marco Ferrari was born in Milano, Italy, in 1971 and received the Laurea degree (M.S. equivalent) in Telecommunications Engineering (cum laude) and the Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in 1996 and 2000, respectively. Since 2001 he has been a Researcher with the Istituto di Elettronica e di Ingegneria dell'Informazione e delle Telecomunicazioni (IEIIT), Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), located at Politecnico di Milano, where he is currently holding a position of Senior Researcher. In 2002 he was an EPRSC Research Fellow at the University of Plymouth (UK). He has co-authored approximately 70 scientific publications on leading international journals and conference proceedings and about ten patents. His main research interests are in channel coding, information theory and digital transmission.
