Abstract:
Intertextual coincidences of forms, content or stylistic devices among literary products from different ages are essential to understand poetic works. The aim of this article is to compare "Al túmulo del Rey Felipe II en Sevilla" (1598) by Miguel de Cervantes and two poems by two members of the so-called Generación del 50: "El arquitrabe" (1959) by Jaime Gil de Biedma and "La vuelta al paraíso terrenal" (1971) by Francisco Brines. Although we know that Cervantes’ sonnet is not a direct source of their poems, we want to show how the three texts share a critical approach on the social situation and some rhetorical resources that end up with the ironic demystification of the absolute monarchy in the first case and of the Franco’s dictatorship in the others. The final objective will be to confirm that in Baroque we can find the background and the origin of the wink of the mid-twentieth century Spanish poetry.
