Fra Paese del Loto e passaggio al Bosco. Gottfried Benn, Ernst Juenger e le aporie del mondo storico

After a reconstruction of the historical and political reasons on the background of the comparison between Gottfried Benn’s and Ernst Jünger’s works in German postwar cultural debates, this article discusses the critical issues which could still justify such a comparison thereby arguing that their intellectual dialogue at the beginning of the 1930s was rooted in the pact between a metaphysical and a revolutionary conception of Being charachterizing their Weltanschauung. The second part of the article explores the possibilities of comparing Benn’s and Jünger’s postwar works in the light of the retreat from the historical world which marked their literary imagination ever since the years of the inner emigration
