Appunti sul romanzo neorurale spagnolo tra desiderio di fuga e necessità di ritorno: Un amor e Llévame a casa

The Spanish phenomenon of neorural novel, which emerged in the 21st century and is only partially inherited from the rural tradition of the post-war period, has given rise to a substantial production that has focused the attention of young novelists on the peripheral and forgotten Spain. Sergio del Molino's 2016 study, La España vacía, made the syntagma "empty Spain" the perfect representation of a complex geographic, historical, social and cultural reality. Among the many novels that make rural Spain their focus, the recent works "Llévame a casa" (2021) by Jesús Carrasco and "Un amor" (2020) by Sara Mesa are presented as examples of the centrifugal and centripetal forces that represent the movements back and forth between the city and the countryside, and that constitute an analysis and an awareness of the constant confrontation between tradition and modernity, between going back to roots and following the call of the metropolis, which are among the themes of the most recent Spanish narrative production.
