MAIN RESEARCH LINES English literature, with special regard to Shakespeare; the English novel of XIXth and XXth Century, in particular colonial and postcolonial narrative and Black British writing. A main line of interest concerns the notion of Englishness and Britishness, and in general, the discoursive features of national identity. These themes were explored both with reference to XXth and XIXth century writers. Deep attention has been given to the Anglo-Indian historical novel featuring the 1857 Sepoy Rebellion. Research is now facing the discursive implication of the notion of landscape in the idea of cultural belonging, with special reference to Black British writing.
