Course Objectives

The "Laboratorio ordinamentale di Biosfera" intends to prepare the student for the experimental application of the theoretical course. In particular, the student must develop an adequate knowledge of the use of earth sciences in primary school.

Teaching Methods

Lectures and laboratory studies are planned. The educational approach involves the gathering of the students' knowledge, proposing the use of models and visual material to represent the proposed contents. A reflection on the most effective teaching methods for dealing with the themes introduced with children will accompany each topic. With this aim, examples of good practices to be developed in the classroom will be proposed, using model themes. Multimedia tools will be used as a support for interdisciplinary study and as a thematic study. The student will also be required to design teaching units and experiments with natural resources and poor materials, achievable in the classroom, aimed at helping the understanding of scientific laws and verifying their coherence with the observed phenomena. Particular attention will be paid to inclusive education for students with difficulties or disabilities.

Assessment Methods

Eligibility for the institutional workshop of Biosphere is obtained with: - attendance for at least 75% of the 9 hours scheduled; - the submission of a didactic unit (UDA) developed on a topic chosen by the student among those treated during the course. The file (in pptx or pdf format) must be uploaded to the "student submissions" folder of the course's E-learning platform by 20.12.2024. It is not possible to take the "Life Sciences" exam in an academic year other than the one in which you were eligible for the institutional workshop of Biosphere.

Three meetings are planned focused explicitly on the following topics:
1) Description and role of insects within the biosphere;
2) Use of water as an example of didactic transversal to scientific teachings;
3) Examples of observation and recognition of some plants characteristic of the territory.
