The course provides an advanced study of Criminal Procedure, focusing on a topic of crucial significance: evidence. In this perspective, the course will illustrate the relevant principles, concepts and fundamental categories of the subject, including those deriving from EU law and the European Convention on Human Rights. Particular attention will be paid to the impact of new technologies in this field, as well as to the relationship between statutory rules and their practical application, also in view of future professional activities or postgraduate specialisation programmes. To achieve these objectives, lectures and workshops will promote the logic and method of legal reasoning, based on the ability to identify the relevant provisions, interpret them consistently with the system in which they operate, argue the positions taken and relate them to hypothetical or real cases.

Means of Evidence and Means for Obtaining Evidence. Evidence Regulated by Law and Evidence Not Regulated by Law. Stages of the Evidentiary Process: Admission, Gathering and Assessment of Evidence. Records of Evidence from Other Proceedings, both Italian and Foreign. Impact of the ECHR on the Law of Evidence.
