Course Objectives

This course aims to provide students with a structured and up-to-date overview of the current state and future prospects of psychological professions, drawing on research data and contextual analyses. The primary objective is to identify and explore key critical issues that characterize the ongoing process of the professionalization of psychology—issues that tend to recur over time and require targeted reflection. Additionally, the course seeks to offer interpretative tools and orientation frameworks for a well-informed understanding of the emerging demand for psychology, thereby supporting students in developing a purposeful approach to their future professional positioning.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify key application areas and promising developments related to the emerging demand for psychology within today’s labor market;
  2. Recognize and compare different models of psychological professionalism, understanding their theoretical and practical implications;
  3. Identify both transversal and specific competencies required for the qualified practice of the psychology profession;
  4. Design educational and professional paths aligned with their interests and the demands of the post-graduate job market;
  5. Develop an initial reflective and orientational assessment of their professional goals, useful for shaping their emerging professional identity.
