Course Objectives

This course will introduce students to the study and the methodology of comparative law.


Course Prerequisites

None.


Teaching Methods

Lectures.


Assessment Methods

Oral exam.

The evaluation is based on a 30-point scale.

A midterm assessment is planned for students who attend the course.


Contents

The course illustrates the purposes, methods and problems of comparison through the study of both civil and common law legal traditions. The approach adopted is primarily historical in nature and aims to investigate the intersections of law, culture and society in the development of the major legal systems globally, while reflecting on the perspectives opened up by processes of supranational harmonization of law.
