Syllabus

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students will have acquired
● the historical and cultural knowledge of modern and contemporary French literature, with particular reference to the interrelationships between literature, aesthetics and the humanities;
● the skills to analyse literary texts from different periods and genres using an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary methodology.

None.

Teaching Methods

The course will take place through lectures and projections of audiovisual materials. The dialogue with the student will be favored.

Assessment Methods

The assessment of learning includes an oral examination or an optional written test, reserved exclusively for attending students, which will take place on the last day of the course. The outcome will be published on Moodle within the timeframe established by the instructor. The results must be formalized, upon online registration, for one of the official exam sessions no later than the autumn session. The grading system is out of 30. The skills tested in both the oral and written examinations are as follows ● reading and critical analysis of the texts discussed in the course; ● ability to contextualise the texts in relation to the relevant literary and cultural panorama; ● acquisition of interdisciplinary methods; acquisition of interdisciplinary methods in the approach to literary texts.

Modernity, fascinated by its innovations, combines, in some exemplar books, the most extreme expressions of its creativity and, designating fashion as the interpreter of them, elects it as both a revolutionary device and a critical tool of its own contradictions.
The imaginary from Nineteent and Twenty-First Century entrusts drapery, bodies and their skin to reveal the symptoms and the trauma of the times, endowing them a new language able to permeate the whole society in its various articulations.

The programme applies to both attending and non-attending students.
