Teaching takes place with a complex methodology to encourage dialogue with the professor and peer learning. The course includes: frontal lessons; case study analysis; group work on questions of sociological theory; seminars with experts to explore specific topics. If teaching will be delivered blended or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes to the program in order to adapt the course and exams to these modalities. However, distance learning activities will still be enabled to stimulate collaborative learning and facilitate student workers.
The exam consists of an oral test. The exam interview will be conducted by asking open and specific questions to verify the level of understanding of the texts of which complete knowledge is required. Problematic questions and cases will then be proposed to verify the students' ability to analyze complex contexts and propose social planning. To achieve excellence, students' abilities to make connections and identify problematic nodes will be assessed; the ability of students to ask themselves legitimate, new, critical and creative questions starting from the study experience; the use of strategic thinking.
The course deals with the constitutive foundations of sociological reflection according to an approach that favors the constant intertwining between the micro and macro dimensions and according to a comparative perspective attentive to the peculiar characteristics of European societies in the global context. The key themes of the sociological debate will be addressed, including social interaction, stratification, globalization, socialization, deviance and medicalization. In particular, we will delve into the changes that are deriving in contemporary society from the process of advanced industrialization and the related dynamics.
For working students it is recommended to attend the teacher's office before the exam and consult the institutional email @studenti.unibg.it for any communications relating to initiatives dedicated to them. For Erasmus students it is recommended to contact the teacher.
In the event of provisions from the competent authorities regarding the containment and management of the epidemiological emergency, the teaching may undergo changes compared to what is stated in the syllabus to make the course and exams in line with the provisions.
