Syllabus

Course Objectives

The teaching of Integrated Production Systems has the educational objective of providing an integrated vision of the problems and potentialities related to automated manufacturing production, with particular attention to manufacturing automation. In particular, at the end of the course the student will be able to: - Predict the optimal degree of automation based on the specific production system; - Identify the techniques and technologies useful for creating an integrated production system; - Use, at a basic level, the simulation software FlexSim. The teaching contributes to the educational objectives of the master's degree course in "Management Engineering" related to the technological-industrial area, in particular with reference to the resolution of problems in the field of manufacturing production and automation.





Course Prerequisites

It is recommeded to have followed the course of "Manufactung Technology"

Teaching Methods

Frontal lectures, Simulation exercises, Laboratory demonstrations

Assessment Methods

The exam includes a written test consisting of 4/5 open questions aimed at evaluating the theoretical preparation of the student, the time available is usually 90 minutes, for each question a score will be assigned in thirtieths taking into account the completeness and correctness of the answer, the overall score is the arithmetic mean of the scores obtained in the individual questions.


For attending students there is the possibility of presenting a group project. The delivery of the project, carried out during the semester with intermediate refresher meetings, will replace a part of the exam (to be valid, the written test must be positive).

  2. Enabling technologies and techniques for integrated production systems (Robots, Measurements, Reverse Engineering, Automation, AM)
  3. Product and process simulation (software, algorithms, Digital twin)
  4. How to select, collect and manipulate/analyze data
  5. How to evaluate the performance of a system
