Overview

Date/time interval

Primo Semestre (15/09/2025 - 20/12/2025)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the student has acquired the basic knowledge on applied thermodynamics and transport phenomena. He/she has acquired the skill to solve basic engineering problems in the field of applied thermodynamics and heat transfer and make an initial analysis on the choice of the appropriate solution for a given type of building.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledge of the subjects of the courses Calculus (analisi matematica) e Physics (Fisica generale).

Teaching Methods

Teaching will take place mainly through lectures with a special attention to a direct interaction with students, which will have the possibility to propose deepening of some subject and to debate on them.

Within the course, practical exercises will be solved.

Assessment Methods

The examination consists of two parts: a written test of two and a half hours and an individual project of design and dimensioning of a heating system.

The written test is structured into five application problems to be solved numerically. A maximum of 20 points are assigned to each problem, for a total of 100. The vote is transformed into thirtieths and is considered sufficient only by those who achieve a score of no less than 16/30.

The individual project must be delivered to the teacher in time to be able to evaluate it out of thirty; a minimum score of 16/30 must be obtained.

The final score corresponds to the weighted average of the marks obtained from the written test (two thirds) and in the individual project (one third). If the final score is less than 18/30, an oral exam is mandatory.
