The course aims to develop in-depth skills in analyzing and interpreting the causes and effects of globalization. This will be achieved through the study of advanced theories of international economics and the discussion of the most recent empirical evidence on some of the main issues related to globalization. By the end of the course, students will have acquired advanced knowledge of the theoretical and empirical tools necessary to understand and evaluate the determinants of globalization and its implications. These include the welfare of countries, firm productivity, innovation and economic growth, employment and wages, as well as the market structure in which firms operate.

Lectures, in class simulations and discussion of scientific articles.
Written exam (open, true/false, and multiple choice questions, practical exercises). The exam aims to test the understanding of the economic models and the ability to link the models to events of the world economy.

- Ricardian model;
- Heckscher-Ohlin model;
- Krugman model;
- Heterogeneous firms and reallocations;
- Migration and international capital flows;
- Trade policies;
- Exchange rates;
- Globalization and the labor market;
- Globalization, productivity, and innovation;
- Globalization and market power;
- Globalization, automation, and artificial intelligence.
The course exists in e-learning mode. The registration is strongly advised to all the students.
